I've been noticing as I drive to Astoria every Wednesday to get The Quills printed that almost every farm home is flying the American flag.
Most have installed flag poles in their yard, and some have them flying from their front porches.
There are red, white, and blue items in yards, on T-shirts, in stores, and I find it so refreshing to see true patrotism once again.
Last week, Hal Jern, Oquwaka Fire Chief told me there are over 90 entries signed up to be in Oquawka's 4th of July Parade which begins at 10 a.m.
I guess that is what I like best about living in our small rural settings. Love for country runs high. I hope you make it to the celebration!
