Southern and Union went through their final graduations two years ago and now they are successfully finishing up their second year as Junior High Graduation was held Tuesday evening in Stronghurst.
Now this Sunday afternoon May 27, 2007 will be the difficult evening for students and the community as La Harpe closes its final chapter as a high school.
The gymnasium should be a little fuller than usual as many come to say good-bye to an era that we often took its meaning for granted.
Those who were a part of the La Harpe graduating classes are especially encouraged to come to witness the last graduating class of LHS receive their diplomas.
La Harpe High School alumni are being invited to walk through the building after Monday morning's 10 a.m. Memorial Day Services are over at the La Harpe City Park from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m..
The La Harpe Student Council are inviting alumni to look at pictures, flip through yearbooks, enjoy refreshments, share stories of the "good ol' days" and autograph a special sign which will be permanently displayed in the school.
After the farewell, the celebration of Illini West can begin. The evening of July 1st is the date for fun and games and the birth of "The Chargers."
