I received a letter from an attorney advising to take care of credit cards and things in our wallets after his was stolen.

One tip he gave was to put the content of your wallet on a photocopy machine. Do both sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place. He also said to photocopy your passport and carry it when you travel here or abroad. He said the key to a thefy was to cancel your cards immediately, but you must know the information on your card and where to call to cancel. Also, file a police report, and finally call 3 national credit reporting organizations to place a fraud alert on your name and also call the Social Security fraud line number. The numbers are: 1 Equifax: 1-800-525-6285; Experian 1-888-397-3742; Trans Union 800-680-7289; and Social Security fraud 800-269-0271.
