Hears Of Fundraising For New Sign At La Harpe School Board Meeting

The La Harpe School Board, District #347 held the Budget Hearing In La Harpe before their regular meeting, Thursday night, September 20th, in the school's library.

The board approved the FY2008 budget as presented, adopted the second reading of the LCSD #347 policy manual, voted to recognize Illini West and Dallas employee Athletic Passes at home games, adopted the Annual Application for Recognition of Schools, set the substitute teacher salary at $75 per day, and approved Barb Finch as a substitute teacher aide.

Principal Lila McKeown reported that the PTO members are selling T-shirts to raise money for a sign to be placed along the highway and would also appreciate donations from the community.

School pictures were taken September 7th. The First Grade really enjoyed a field trip to Scheetz Farm on September 10th. Several first grade classes from the area attended.

There was an outstanding turn out for Open House. The north side of the gym bleachers was filled to capacity with several people standing along the wall. There was a short program where all of the PK-5 students sang two patriotic songs.

The elementary teachers then performed a short song to the tune of "Yankee Doodle".

A school bus safety drill was held Sept. 13th. All students PK-8 were given instructions on bus procedures and safety.

Mrs. Bartlett and 8th grade parent chaperones took our 8th grade class to Carthage for the Career Fair September 14.

School board members in attendance were:

Pam Campbell, and Mark Irish. Also present were: Jo Campbell, Pat Deitrich, and Kelly Carpenter.
