Meet your neighbor Dan Potts who lives at rural Biggsville. He is the West Central Band teacher and instructs 27 high school, 36 middle school, and 51 5th grade students. Dan was born and raised in Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1991, the University of Iowa in 1996, and received his Masters in Educational Administration in 2003. He is married to Cristy and they have a son, Fisher, (2 1/2) and a daughter, Genevieve (1). His parents are Terry and Ann Potts, both retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. His sister Stephanie lives in Davenport, Iowa, and his step-sister, Stacy, lives in Sarasota, Florida. Dan enjoys spending time with his family and fishing. A special memory was the summers his family took vacations to South Dakota to visit family. His hobby is playing golf and he has easy access since he lives across the road from Hend-Co-Hills. In 2006 Dan and his family vacationed at Disneyland over Christmas break. In 1997 he traveled to Europe for 3 weeks with a group as the Illinois Ambassadors of Music. The next time you see the West Central band performing, be sure to tell Dan how much you appreciate his hard work. |
