The Quill traveled in August with Jill Hasten Dyer and her family to Quito, Ecuador. There, Jill visited Maria Vasconez who had been an exchange student with the Bill and Cerece Hasten family from 1971-1972.
Maria is now a dentist in Quito. She has 3 children, Patricia, an attorney in Quito, Jose, lives in Connecticut and works as a computer programmer and Emmanuel, is a student at the University in Quito.
Brice Dyer, Jill's son was competing at an international climbing competition in Ibarra, Ecuador.
They enjoyed spending a week with Maria and her family before going to the competition and shared many stories from Maria's year in La Harpe. She has many fond memories of her friends in La Harpe.
