Golf Pro Purchases Hend-Co-Hills, Plans Improvements

by Susan Galbraith, The Quill Staff

Meet new owner of Henderson County's only golf course, Cory Bizarri.

Cory signed papers for ownership of Hend-Co-Hills, at Biggsville, on March 16 of this year.

He is certainly not a novice to the golf world.

Before buying Hend-Co-Hills, Cory was the golf pro at Lake Bracken in Galesburg and prior to that lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for 6 years as golf pro.

He was born and raised in Cameron. His parents are Vic and Trudy Bizarri who now reside at Lake Bracken.

He graduated from Warren High School, near Monmouth in 1987, and in 1995 he served an apprenticeship at Lake Bracken under the mentorship of Charlie Johnson of Monmouth.

His brother-in-law is now the head golf pro at Lake Bracken.

Cory is married to Michele and they have one son, Nathan (8) and a daughter, Courtney (4).

In January, Cory and his family attend the PGA (of which he is a member) golf show in Orlando, Florida. This show is the largest trade show in the world. At that time Cory does all the buying for his business.

He has a lot of plans and dreams for Hend-Co-Hills.

He has already purchased wooden tables and chairs for the banquet hall and has plans to renovate that area by building an addition and constructing a deck facing the golf course with a beautiful view of the course.

The banquet hall can be rented for parties, receptions, meetings and various things.

He plans to renovate the campgrounds, bathhouses and fixtures. The campground is open to the public.

Cory is a PGA professional trained in club fitting, teaching individual and group instruction and is implementing a junior golf program for the young people of the community.

Hend-Co-Hills employs 8-10 people; 4 full time and 4-6 part time, which are on a seasonal basis.

He has golfed with Todd Hamilton on several occasions at Lake Bracken.

Cory is very excited about his new venture and is putting in many, many hours at Hend-Co.

He would like you to stop by, take a look around, and say hello. He feels privileged to have such a fine facility.

Hend-Co-Hills carries the legacy of producing a pro golfer and British Open champion, Todd Hamilton.

Who knows who the next one might be.
