Community Music at its best!

Community Music at its best!

The patriotic music and gospel sing and salute to veterans was right on key as it precedes our 4th of July Independence Day Celebration.

Sunday at the Raritan Opera House, Pam Moore, Henderson County Community Choir Director, conducted "Land Of The Free" in a wonderful performance. Sounds included America, the Beautiful, My Country "Tis of Thee, Battle Hymn of the Republic. The musical also included a medley of heritage of faithfulness, and "America Bless God" before the Finale of The Star-Spangled Banner before playing the Armed Forces Salute. Veterans stood as they heard their song for the branch of the armed forces they sang: Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Air Force, and Navy

After an Intermission of cookies and drink, provided by choir members and the Legion Auxiliary, a wonderful acappella group, The Silk Chords performed gospel music opening with the moving number of Amazing Grace. The quartet was Carolyn Kellert, Galesburg, Julie Reinertsen, Galesburg, Laura Duncan, Knoxville, and Hillary Hoffman, Galesburg.

CDs were available and can be seen on their website at www.silk-cords.com.

Trudi Lefler opens the musical with a reading.

The Silk Cords gave a delightful musical after intermission.
