Meet Your Neighbors

by Jessica Boyle, Quill Staff

Meet your neighbors Arlin and Carol Clover.

Arlin grew up in the La Harpe-Terre Haute area, graduating from Terre Haute High School.

Carol was born and raised in Fort Madison, Iowa and graduated from Fort Madison High School.

They have six kids, nineteen grandkids, and several great-grandkids. They enjoy spending time with all of their family.

Arlin has farmed all of his life and once owned a trucking company.

In 1978 Arlin opened up his own business, The Clover Tire Shop located in a single stall garage east of the La Harpe Christian Church.

He served the area with all types of tires and service and expanded his service after moving into the Fred Gibb Chevrolet building.

Twenty-five years later, on May 1, 2003, Arlin retired, and handed the keys to his shop over to his son Steve and daughter-in-law Debbie Reed who are now running it today.

One of the Clover's favorite hobbies is riding their motorcycle. Some of their favorite places they have been are the Smoky Mountains, The Rocky Mountains, Canada, and Glacier National Park.

This summer they are planning a trip to the Rocky Mountains, up the California coast, and then on into Washington and Oregon.
