Fair Queen and Little Miss Crowned

Danielle Waterman was crowned 2007 Henderson Co. Fair Pageant Queen after wowing the judges with her interview, dance, speech, and evening gown presentation.

Danielle is the daughter of Rick and Tina Waterman of Stronghurst.

She will be a junior this fall at Greenville College. Her major is Early Childhood Education and her passions include dancing and Girl Scouts, as she is a co-leader of a first grade Brownie Troop.

She has three sisters whom she loves to spend time with as they shop and travel.

Rachel Sams was the runner up for the evening and will be a Junior this fall at West Central.

She is the daughter of Doug and Ronda Sams.

Rachel will be remembered for her speech which was titled, "Breakfast!"

Ashleigh Brown is now wearing the Little Miss crown.

She is the daughter of Joe and Cindy Kane and Kenny Taylor.

Ashleigh is in the 4th grade at Yorkwood School and will be showing in the 4-H fair.

Runner up in the Little Miss pageant was Kami Endress, daughter of Mike and Megan Endress.

Kami will be a 3rd grader at West Central this coming fall.

The pageant was held at the Raritan Opera House with five queen contestants, Julianna Gillam, Shelby Crawford, Morgan McCollum, Danielle Waterman, and Rachel Sams, all doing a fantastic job.

In the Little Miss part of the pageant, was Mia Lange, Kami Endress, Shaylene Anderson, Brooklyn Knapp, Rachel Lefler, and Ashleigh Brown.

Both sets of girls, began the evening with interviews that began at 5:00 before the doors were opened to the public.

When the evening started, the Queen contestants and Little Miss hopefuls each did a dance to a country music song.

Delmar Jacob was the sound person for the evening and Jace Taylor was in charge of lights.

Master of Ceremonies, Kyle Keever, introduced each of the five girls, as they gave their three minute speeches.

To add a little humor to the evening, Samantha Arnold and Kaitlin Sparrow danced in their two-person horse costume to "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" which brought many laughs to the audience.

The pageant also was fortunate to have a musician and songwriter from Burlington, Iowa perform, Aaron Stevens. His music was most enjoyable.

Robin Guile, 2006 Henderson Co. Fair Queen, performed "The Wind Beneath My Wings," and also said her thank-you's for her year of reigning.

Robin was an outstanding queen and in January went to Springfield to compete in the State Pageant.

After the short intermission, all eleven girls put their finest on for the "Stage Presence" competition. Kyle asked each Little Miss a question and then they did their walk for the judges.

The five Queen contestants then came on stage in their evening gown attire, which all were very stunning, a definite change from the beginning of the evening which began in cowboy boots and cowboy hats.

Amy Ford was the tally lady for the evening. After the three judges, Dan Jensen, Heather Kienol, and Renee Edwards, finalized their score sheets, the results were announced.

Danielle, Rachel, Ashleigh, and Kami will be present at the fair to lend support.

Sue Lyon and Stacie Arnold are directors of the Pageant, which is sponsored by The Antiquity Hair Care Center.

Selected as 2007 Henderson County Fair Queen Runner Up is Rachel Sams of Rural Gladstone (Bluffdale), a Junior this fall at West Central High School. She is the daughter of Doug and Ronda Sams. Little Miss Runner up is Kami Endress, daughter of Mike and Megan Endress. Kami will be a 3rd grader at West Central this coming fall.
