Hopes To Rid City Of Building
The La Harpe committee that was formed by the La Harpe City Council to work on possible ways to demolish the burned out buildings on La Harpe's Main Street met in December 2006.
The building that is of concern had suffered from a fire several years ago. It was a clothing store and a bakery and sets on the south side of Main Street next to the Pub.
Mayor Ken Brown said, "We are again working with EPA and Engineers on ways of legally removing the building. As of now, we have two major problems:
1. ownership of the building and
2. saving the structure on either side of the building.
According to Mayor Brown, the meetings will continue in 2007, with plans to meet again this month.
The committee members along with Mayor Ken Brown, are Todd Irish, Gary Housewright, Ron Peterson, Delbert Kreps, Dick Rasmussen, and Steve Breckon
