La Harpe Hears Of More Grant Money

Available For Needed Water Project

WIRC representative Susan Nash spoke about the availability of grant money for major water line projects in the southern section of La Harpe. Paperwork would need completed promptly in order to proceed. Notification of approval would be in 2008, and if received, construction in 2009, and completion of construction in 2010.

The action took place at Monday night's board city council meeting. Those answering roll at 7:00 p.m. were Irish, Lovell, Helmers, Bennett, Burford, Carpenter, Stevens, and Brown. Neff was absent. Also attending were Attorney Richard Rasmussen,Tim Graves, Wayne Humphrey, Justin Livingston, Roger Hughes, Dan Gillett, Erik Krekle, Jason Torrence, and Susan Nash from WIRC.

Mayor Ken Brown has been in contact with Senator Sullivan and has been able to acquire a grant of $6,000 to be used for the necessary water lines needed for the operation of the new Pioneer Railroad business on the south side of town. It was voted to pursue the hiring of WIRC to pursue the design engineering DCEO.

The housing grant for home repairs has been unofficially accepted by the Illinois Housing Authority. Everything looks favorable. Notice will be in the newspapers when finalized, and applications can be submitted for the designated $370,000 allotted.

Also approved was: "Resolution 2007-A Johnson Land Farm Report", and the McClure Engineering Annual Agreement, the minutes, treasurer's report, and the payment of all bills. The meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
