Meet your neighbor Diane Mercer, born in Southwest Georgia, December 15, 1971. Diane graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1989 and went on to Andrew College where she earned her Associates Degree. She then on to Darton College and in 2004 Diane graduated with a Bachelor degree in Allied Health Administration from Albany State University. After graduation she joined the health care field and continued to do so until she joined the staff at the La Harpe Quill Office. On May 19, 2007 Diane and her daughter, Mahanna Mercer (8), moved to La Harpe. Diane met her finance, Tony Spilker, on the Internet and this December 24 they will be married. Diane will then add Tony's two children to her family, Cristen Spilker (11) and Michael Spilker (7).The biggest adjustment from Georgia to Illinois is "the people and the customs from the south".She is also still working on trying to find her way around everywhere. Mahanna was thrilled with her first snow and loved being able to play outside in it. A memorable time that stands out in Diane's memory is a business trip she took to New York and while there she had a chance to climb to the top of the Empire State Building and shop in Time Square. Diane also recalls enjoying spending time with her parents at their beach in their camper. Diane loves scrap booking and being the Youth Minister at Agape Christian Fellowship. She is also a licensed American Medical Technologist and is CPR and First Aid Certified. Please take a moment to welcome Diane and Mahanna to our community next time you see them |
