Take The Quill Along

The Quill traveled with Gary Housewright to visit his son, Bill Housewright in October in Hiroshima, Japan. Bill is living and working for GEOS, a language conversation school. Gary (left) and Bill are posing in front of the "floating tori (gate)" on the island of Miyajima. (near Hiroshima City).

This island was held sacred by the Japanese and for centuries only holy men were allowed to visit this island, first paddling through the sacred red gate. The gate dates back to the 11th Century.
