Old Fashioned Christmas Walk Friday

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

I think it's going to be fun this Friday evening as we enjoy another Old Fashion Christmas Walk in our community of Stronghurst. The Quill has asked to move back into The Quill office rather than in the Senior Citizens building, because it was needed for bread-making.

Since Dr. Isaac F. Harter was the first doctor in town having moved to Stronghurst in 1887, we thought it would be fun to have Dan Ashton play the part of Dr. Harter and greet people here at The Quill. Dr. Harter was not only the first doctor, but was also commissioned the first Postmaster in Stronghurst. He was given the choice of the first lots if he agreed to be the doctor and he chose the property where the present Quill office is. You can see his name on the back steps and earlier it was on an outside door upstairs where he practiced.

We hope you will come in Friday at the corner of Main and Broadway street and sign up for our door prizes and visit with the doctor. There will be a lot of activity going on around town with carriage rides, hall of trees, nativity display, music, refreshments, and the chance to see Christmas early. The Ecumenical singers will be performing across the street from the office at the Bank of Stronghurst and there will be a variety of crafts at the building of Bob's TV. The Village of Stronghurst and Fire Department all will be open to visit. Come enjoy an old fashion Christmas holiday. You're sure to have a good time.
