I'll Worry About That Tomorrow

If you ever watched Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, you are familiar with her immortal phrase: "I can't think about that today, I'll worry about that tomorrow."

After watching the movie last week, the phrase haunted me all week.

I think it is because, it is a pet peeve of mine to put everything off until tomorrow, but in watching O'Hara go through the most horrendous losses, I think with discretion, there is a place for her phrase that can help us get through some tough days, for instance, the price of corn or beans, or the outcome of the election.

I especially can relate it to those running for public office listening to polls and wondering how far behind they are and if they are going to win.

"I can't worry about that today. It will just drive me nuts. I'll work about that tomorrow."

Scarlet had a point.

The best way to get through the threat of a disaster or the reality of one, is to roll up our sleeves and do all that we can today. That's the best we can do.

She modeled strength in battling many losses.

Are you worrying about something that is getting you down?

Maybe it's your kids, maybe it's your health, or your finances.

Whatever it is, just don't worry about it today, put the worry aside and do what you can today.

Usually our worrying is the problem that can bring on a ton of issues.

My suggestion, is not to go overboard with this kind of reasoning, but when you are pushed against the wall with a problem, a diagnose, or what you feel is the worst thing, try to put it aside, or it will drive you crazy, and do what you can to get through.

Rent or buy the movie Gone With The Wind,

It may not help the corn prices go up or the stock market, but what will?

And as for dinner tonight, that is something you will just have to worry about today. A few things just won't work Scarlet's way.
