Parting With Old Treasures

It seems we all have inherited a few treasures from our parents or from our past that could be good auction or yard sale items.

There is absolutely no place in the house for them to be useful or to fit, yet we store them because of a memory they keep alive.

A friend of mine, from Poland, was forced to part with such treasures time and time again, due to her parents moving to the United States, then the death of her mother when she was young.

Times were so tough, it was a luxury to have a new dress to wear to school.

The things a person possesses does not hold the memories, she insists. It just clutters the house.

The memories you hold in your heart of the special people in your lives.

Yard sales, good will, or auctions are an easy answer for her to dispose of unused articles. She keeps her home and her life simple.

A clean sweep in our homes may keep life simpler and help us stay focused on the present. Maybe we can take part in the Stronghurst Yard Sales this Saturday.
