The first year at West Central was not just a blur of activity for the senior Class of 2006 but also for the faculty and the entire community.
Like one principal said, time flys when you are swamped with activity, but it has been a great challenge and a great year.
The seniors were reminded at graduation that they were now West Central alumni and would be leaders for the rest of the West Central students.
I believe this group of graduates will be better prepared than most graduates. They have met many challenges already that have prepared them for college life.
New school, new teachers, new environment, changes in the way things have always been done, and they have found that challenges are what makes us better.
Several of the top students are going into Medicine or Engineering, and it will be exciting to hear about their accomplishments after college.
As Ms. Nancy Gibb said in her speech to the graduating class, "You can always come home." And after they experience college and travels, we hope that some of our graduates return to be a part of shaping Henderson County for future generations.
Whatever they choose, we know they will be assets to their community.
The celebration after West Central's graduation was in order, Saturday. They met the challenge. Seniors, you have a lot to look forward to. Best of luck, and keep us informed!
