Wow, What A Community!

The La Davier Health Care Center has been blessed again by the generous caring community of La Harpe. And because of it, they will be able to keep providing a health clinic, a nursing home facility, and housing for residents who need assisted living.

The excitement in the voices of the La Harpe Davier staff - who knew well the stress residents and their families were feeling, was a joy to witness after they were told their caring community had sent in enough donations to reach more than their $150,000 goal ...and funds are still coming in! It is a good time to honor all the La Harpe Davier Board members, and those who helped in any way to make this happen. Many contributed, and many prayed, some wrote letters and made phone calls, others spread word of the need, and legislators worked to see what they could do in the political process to get the delayed Medicaid payments.

And although it seemed like an impossibility, God again, answered the prayers of the believers. They looked at the possibilities rather than at the limitations.

I was privileged to see and hear a special speaker in St. Louis this weekend, Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind man to climb Mt. Everest in 2001. Someone once told Erik he needed to recognize his limitations, but he said he has found it is much more fun to realize his potential. He also put a twist on the saying, Seeing is believing. For Erik, "Believing is seeing!"

If you think about it, people who accomplish great things, like the La Harpe community, had to believe first. That is the beauty in their accomplishment! God bless each one!
