SPANISH AMERICAN WAR: Hon. James O.Anderson of Henderson County was

commissioned by the Governor of Illinois to raise a provisional regiment of Infantry to be ready to respond to a further call for volunteers.

In April 1898 a meeting was held in the Oquawka Opera House where a company was organized with Walter P. Martin of Biggsville elected Captain; Alex Moir of Oquawka, First Lieutenant and Frank Anderson of Decorra, Second Lieutenant. (List of company is found on Page 110 of history book.) This regiment was never called into active service.
