The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
SPANISH AMERICAN WAR: Frank Silsbee of Stronghurst, a telegraph operator, was the only Henderson County boy who was under fire; he enlisted in the U.S.Signal Corps and participated in the siege of Santiago and the Battle of San Juan Hill(this was the battle that made Teddy Roosevelt famous).
His work took him to the most exposed positions, but he escaped without being wounded.
