The Heat played tough, but Elmwood-Brimfield just had too much power in their two running backs.
E-B broke out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before Drue Waterman hit Calvin Covert with an 11 yard scoring pass. E-B would pick up two more scores in the second quarter to lead 28-6 at halftime.
In the second half the Heat did not give up, but played E-B toe to toe. Playing without our best runner, Andy Chockley, it would have been easy to fold the tents and call it a day, but we played our best football of the year instead.
The defensive adjustments we made at halftime worked, and our players stepped up their execution.
Brent Blender, Drue Waterman, and Adam Smith provided most of our offensive punch.
Dalton Chandler's perfect onside kick was a key to our second half play. Cody Lane and Jason Sams got some big hits in the second half.
This week the Heat will play Athens at Petersburg-Porta. The best way to get to Petersburg is to go through Havana.
