La Harpe Jr. High graduates forty-two

Forty-two La Harpe Junior High School 8th grade students were successfully promoted to high school Friday evening, May 19, 2006.

After the Processional, "Pomp and Circumstance" was performed by the La Harpe symphonic band and wind ensemble, the American Legion Post 301 presented the colors. Veteran Michael Blythe lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Jessica Horton giving the invocation.

La Harpe Superintendent Mr. Jo Campbell, in his soft spoken manner, congratulated the graduates.

The 8th grade Junior High Chorus sang "Irish Friendship Wish" directed by Ms. Stephanie Mencel and later the eighth grade chorus sang "Remember Me."

La Harpe Principal Lila McKeown presented the Academic Awards with top students recognized on stage: Mitchell Beals, Garett Burt, Tess Eddington, Alicia Geissler, Abby Geissler, Joslin Dowell, Lyndsey Marlene Gutowski, Jessica Horton, Kelly Johnson, LaShay Rodeffer, and Sarah Ziegler.

Top academic students were Kelly Amanda Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Johnson. Second was Jessica Marie Horton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Horton.

American Legion Good Citizenship Awards was presented by Veteran Michael Blythe to Michael Robert Lafferty and Joslin Dowell.

Promotional certificates were presented by Dan Horton, and R.D. Trout.

After the retiring of the colors by American Legion honor guards, Joslin Dowell gave the benediction. The Freshman class of 2007, recessed out front of the school where a receiving line was formed on this beautiful spring evening.
