Meet Your Neighbor Pauline (Gearhart) Overstreet. Pauline is retired but did work at the Raritan Bank, was a secretary at Raritan Grade School, and also worked at Herman Hardin's Red & White Grocery Store. In 1949, her husband Bun, bought the school bus transportation business. She worked with him transporting special education children to La Harpe, Macomb, Monmouth, Union and Dallas City. They retired after 38 years. Pauline was born on the farm 1/2 mile south of Raritan and graduated from Media High School in 1942. She has three children; Andrea, Dennis and DeAnn, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren which includes one set of twins. Andrea and DeAnn live in Raritan. Andrea works at the Raritan State Bank, DeAnn is employed at Security Savings in Stronghurst and Dennis lives in Morton and works for A & B Freight Lines out of Peoria. She enjoys keeping up her home, working for her church, getting involved in community affairs, and watching television. She serves on the Raritan Sesquicentennial Committee and is a member of the Raritan Baptist Church. She also serves on several boards and committees and loves singing in the choir. |
