Meet your neighbor Art Kane, a lifelong resident of Henderson County. Art lives on the family farm he grew up on in rural Media. It is located near St Patrick's Catholic Church which he attends and is a trustee. His parents, both deceased, are John W. and Rosie Kane and he has four brothers Bob, Frank, Dan, and John and a sister Rose Marie, who died at age 21. Art is a 1963 Media High School graduate, and attended Burlington Business College in Iowa. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 and his brother John was drafted 40 days later and served in Germany, and later his brother Dan served in Vietnam. Art was honorably discharged in June 1968 after serving in North Carolina and Texas. He joined the staff at the Raritan State Bank where he is now president of the bank. His love for history has kept him involved in the community. He serves the Henderson County Library board (Treas.), ACS Relay for Life (volunteer), Henderson County Historical Society (Media), Raritan Sesquicentennial (Co-Chair), Raritan Opera House Restoration, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus, as well as his church. He enjoys local history, civil war history and family reunions. He also enjoys traveling for family, historical and community reasons. |
