His parents, both deceased, are John W. and Rosie Kane and he has four brothers Bob, Frank, Dan, and John and a sister Rose Marie, who died at age 21.

Art is a 1963 Media High School graduate, and attended Burlington Business College in Iowa. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 and his brother John was drafted 40 days later and served in Germany, and later his brother Dan served in Vietnam.

Art was honorably discharged in June 1968 after serving in North Carolina and Texas.

He joined the staff at the Raritan State Bank where he is now president of the bank.

His love for history has kept him involved in the community.
