The 2006 Henderson County Fair Pageant was held with a packed crowd in the historic and beautifully refurbished Raritan Opera House on Sunday evening, June 11th.
The competition began at 4:30 p.m., before the public pageant opened, when each contestant was interviewed by the judges.
At the pageant, six young ladies danced, interviewed, modeled, and gave speeches in front of a lively audience in an attempt to win the crown to represent this year's county fair. The contestants were:
Danielle Waterman, Sarah Heller, Robin Guile, Miranda Clark, Jordan Hukill and Lindsey Dilsaver.
Robin Guile, was crowned Queen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Guile of Stronghurst, with Lindsey Dilsaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Kindig and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Dilsaver, as Runner up.
Nick Burg acted as Master of Ceremonies, and definitely did a good job.
Last year's 2005 Fair Queen, Kasey Cavanaugh, danced, sang, and gave a tearful thank-you for the wonderful year she had experienced.
Ten Little Miss candidates also danced and were each asked questions by Nick. They had also been interviewed prior to the Pageant by the judges.
The girls were
Brooklyn Knapp, Katie Droste, Kayla Droste, Shaylene Anderson, Olivia Oard, Ashleigh Brown, Rachel Lefler, Mia Lange, Madison Benge, and Kamryn Endress.
The Little Miss Queen was Olivia Oard and the runner up was Ashleigh Brown.
A highlight of the evening was when Deb Cole, Joe Kane, Paul Anderson, Diana Taylor, John Benge, and Todd Lange were literally dragged on the stage to dance with the girls to "YMCA". John Benge won the prize (a bag of popcorn) for the best dancer but it was a close contest as all were good participants.
It was an entertaining night and enjoyed by those that attended.
Judges for the evening were Patricia Deitrich, Lacee Norgren, and Kelly Keitzer.
