Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor, Louise Collins, a long time resident of the La Harpe and La Crosse area. She was born in rural La Crosse where she lived until her marriage.

Her parents were Dora and Ernest Dunn. Louise had 3 sisters only 1 of whom is still living.

Going to McGuffy and Rossville country schools for her elementary education she then came into LaHarpe for her high school years.

She was maried to Owen Collins in 1941 in Kahoka, MO. Two children were born to them-Penny who lives in La Harpe and Jerry who lives in West Burlington, IA. Owen died in 1987. 

Louise has 4 living grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons. Two grandchildren are deceased.

Louise worked at the Newstand in La Harpe for 14 years, then retired from Bower Roller Bearing in Macomb after working there 18 years. Her hobbies are playing cards and Bingo, dining out and doing volunteer work. She is a member of the Christian Church, T he Senior Citizens, and the Legion Auxiliary where she is secretary and R.S.V.P.
