MST Receives $38,000 Grant

For the third year in a row the Media-Stronghurst-Terre Haute Fire Protection District (MST) has received a grant. This one in the amount of $38,000 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

This year's grant will be used to purchase and install a permanent three phase generator at the Stronghurst Fire Station.

In case of an emergency the generator will be able to provide heat, lights, and keep the fire department in operation, according to Fire Chief Curt Eisenmayer.

The Stronghurst Fire Station is the designated command center for the southern half of Henderson County if a disaster occurs.

"The biggest hurdle left before receiving the money, is to go through a historic review since the building is more than 50 years old", said Eisenmayer.
