Monday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m. the La Harpe City Council held their first meeting for 2006. those answering roll call were Irish, Helmers, Bennett, Burford, Carpenter, Neff, Stevens, and Brown. Lovell was absent.
Also, present were Justin Livingston, Wayne Humphrey, Roger Hughes, Richard Rasmussen, and new city policeman Fred Ochsner.
The November minutes, treasurer's report and bills were approved and ordered paid.
The new city police employee was introduced to the council by Justin Livingston. His employment began the first of January.
Progress is being made in the city's plan for the removal of the burned building on Main Street as needed permits, bids, and paperwork are being prepared.
Bids were opened for a replacement furnace at the water plant. A decision will be made after more discussion. They adjourned at 8:00 p.m. with the next scheduled meeting to be at the city hall on Monday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m.
