Moment In History

MURDER AND MAYHEM: In 1887 John Robinson from south of Raritan shot and killed Solomon Zink.

Mr. Zink had been paying too much attention to Robinson's wife and had threatened him.

Going to Kirkwood, Robinson purchased a revolver and when arriving home found Zink casually sitting in a chair reading a newspaper in the house with his wife.

Not asking questions Robinson stepped in and shot Zink dead.

At the trial Robinson tried to plead self defense, but the jury returned a verdict of guilty and Mr. Robinson was sentenced to 14 years in the penitentiary. (It was later reduced by the Governor.)
