MURDER AND MAYHEM:
In 1880 Stephen S. Phelps, son of S.S. Phelps of Oquawka, was shot and killed at Sagetown on the railroad platform by Archibald Toup.
Mr. Toup was arrested, tried and convicted, and sentenced to 10 year imprisonment at Joliet.
