by Dessa Rodeffer/Quill Publisher
Meet your neighbors Beverly and Terry Thacker of Gladstone, born and raised. Both are graduates of Union High School. Beverly retired from Maytag in Galesburg after 32 years. Terry worked 30 years in the auto parts business in Burlington, IA then decided t o do something different. The couple leased the Twist & Shout pizza and ice cream parlor in Oquawka. Terry learned the running of a healthy kitchen by taking a 3 day course and learned secrets of pizza making from his sauce supplier in Chicago. They purchased special equipment to keep up with the demand producing as many as 125 in a night. Over 90% is carry-out but they have a nice indoor dining area, open Thursday through Sunday 4-9 until spring. Beverly also loves to sew, crochet, cross-stitch and walk and is the meter reader for the Gladstone Village. Terry is a Hot Rod and Harley enthusiast as you can see by the decor of their business, and his bright orange fancy truck. For each pizza order you can register to win a Harley bicycle. Yearly they attend 'Bike Week' in Daytona in March. They have three sons, two in construction. Mike of Monmouth works in the Quad Cities, and Jason in Aurora, CO works for SEMA Construction, presently at the Denver International Airport building runways to de-ice planes. Cody lives in Gladstone and works a t Millards, Burlington. They also enjoy 3 grandchildren |
