Meet Your Neighbor

By Holly Palmer Willdrick/The Quill

Meet your neighbor and our new city police officer Fred Ochsner.

Fred grew up in Dallas City were he graduated from high school in 1975. He joined the Army Reserves and serve 21 years, 6 in active duty. Fred returned to Dallas City and worked at B Supply before taking a position with the Dallas City Police Department for almost six years. He came to LaHarpe to try and fill the shoes left behind by Jake Snelson who recently retired.

Fred and his wife Nancy are looking forward to becoming part of the LaHarpe community.

He said, "LaHarpe is one of the friendliest towns. Everyone waves and I don't know half of them.".

Fred has two daughters, LoRena (Ryan) Allen and April (Tim) Phillips, and three step children, Christina and Misty Crane and Lyle Huss.

One of Fred's favorite past times is to spoil his three grandchildren, Shalynn (2), Katie (6), and Colby (4). He has another grandchild on the way and can't wait to start the spoiling.

Fred likes to collect rare coffee cups and has about thirty in his collection. Make sure to "give him a wave" and introduce yourself the next time you see him. I just hope it is not when he has you pulled over.
