MURDER AND MAYHEM:

In March 1871 John Thompson was indicted for the murder of James Huggins at Raritan. He pled not guilty and the case on change of venue was moved to Warren County. He was convicted and sent to Joliet for 33 years.

J. A. McKenzie was the State's Attorney and J. Simpson appeared for the defense in Henderson County.
