La Harpe City Council meeting

Those answering roll call at the December 11th La Harpe City Council meeting were Irish, Lovell, Helmers, Bennett, Burford, Carpenter, Neff, Stevens, and Brown.

Also, attending the meeting were Richard Rasmussen, Tim Graves, Wayne Humphrey, Justin Livingston, Attorney James Drozdz, and Roger Hughes.

After approval of the treasurer's report and bills all to be paid, and the minutes from the November meetings were approved, States Attorney James Drozdz approached the council to offer his assistance in any matters that may come before the village. He stated he would be available to any needs the city may have.

Eric Moe from McClure Engineering would like to meet with the street committee after the first of the year to plan street and intersection maintenance.

Contracts have been signed for the work to be done by Wells Construction at the reservoir for the baffles.

It was reported that the recent snow and rain have helped raise the water levels at the reservoir, but it still remains low. The new truck with snow plow worked well during the recent snow storm.

Livingston reported that city policeman, Erik Krekle, is presently attending a two week transition class in Champaign.

The city recently experienced inconvenient power outages, and Ameren IP will be providing notice two to three days in advance of necessary outages to warn residents.

The date for the caucus will be January 22, 2007.

The second meeting of December will be cancelled due to the Christmas holiday. The next regular meeting will be held on January 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the city hall.
