On Sunday, August 13, 2006, the Presbyterian Churches of Media and Stronghurst celebrated the commissioning of Pam Moore, Little York, to serve as Lay Pastor of their two churches.
Friends of Pam and the two churches participated in the commissioning service with Rev. Dottie Halverson, Pastor of the Sugar Tree Grove United Presbyterian Church, Pam's home church, offering the welcome and introductory portion of the service.
Rev. Suzanne Geer, of the Alpha Methodist Church, remembered working with Pam early in her time of church service when she served as a choir director and reminded those in attendance that church work is team work and we all need to work together.
Rev. William Meyer, Faith Presbyterian Church, Monmouth, conducted the Commissioning Service with the assistance of Debbie Gillam and Don Fry as representatives for the Sessions of the Media and Stronghurst churches.
In his closing charge to the congregations, Rev. Richard Johnson, Biggsville Presbyterian Church, reminded us that the pastor of the church was like a shepherd, there to lead the members of the congregation and provide guidance, but the members were to be good sheep, work together, stay on the right path, and not stray or "raise a stink, like wet sheep".
Special music for the service was provided by Debbie Gillam and Cindy Link.
A light lunch was provided after the service by the members of the two churches.
