She was raised in La Harpe along with one brother, James of La Harpe and two sisters, Lucretia McPeak of La Harpe and Brenda Murphy of Burlington, Iowa.
Betty's parents are Nancy and Jack Parrish of La Harpe.
Betty attended La Harpe schools and graduated from La Harpe High School in l982 and was a waitress for several years and in l990 she started working at a Gun Smithing Mail Order factory in Montezuma, Iowa. She worked there for 4 years before coming back to La Harpe in l994.
Currently Betty is the lead cashier in the Dollar General store in La Harpe.
Her favorite hobbies are Jigsaw puzzles and she loves to bake. She also enjoys music, dancing and being with her family and the family pets.
Betty attends the Union Church of La Harpe.
