Boys Heat It Up At Rushville

The West Central High School Boys Track and Field team traveled to Rushville on Wednesday, March 29, and despite some chilly weather managed to bring some heat on the track.

Layton Housman led the way with a win in the 1600 meter run (5:12.2) and a third in the 800. Charlie Smith, Brad Buss, and James Torrance also placed in the distance races.

Darick Clark, Dan Koopmans, and Seth Carlson all scored in the sprints. Stephen Lindo and Cody Postle both placed in the hurdles; Lindo in the 300, Postle in the 110. Josh Harkness, Jayson Sams, and Paul Loper all placed in throwing events while Bill Blakely placed in both the long jump and triple jump. Lindo soared to third place in the high jump as well.

All five West Central relay teams placed. Smith, Koopmans, Lindo, and Housman placed in the 4x800; Clark, Koopmans, Carlson, and Blakely placed in the 4x100; Postle, Loper, Claudio Lauchli, and Torrance placed in the 4x200; Blakely, Carlson, Koop-mans, and Housman placed in the 4x400; and Loper, Lauchli, Sams, and Chase Gray placed in the weight man relay.
