The Carpet Layer

Rex Stewart started laying carpet and vinyl in San Diego, CA. After returning home from the Army a friend convinced him it would be a good line of work to go into. He worked by the hour and stayed there for 15 years.

At that point he moved to Missouri and started to work independently. He went to local stores and was able to obtain contracts with them.

He met his wife Barb in 1986 and was married later that year. Barb being from the La Harpe area and wanting to return, so in 1987 they made the trip back.

Rex was able to obtain a contract with Modern Floors, now Floor to Ceiling, in Macomb. He also takes on small side jobs as well.

In 2004, he "semi-retired" and only works three days a week.

In his free time he enjoys the great outdoors, from camping and fishing to hunting prairie dogs in South Dakota. He also enjoys traveling with his wife and reading.
